Gallbladder Guide

Everybody blames greasy food when gallbladder trouble shows up. Turns out that's only half the story. The bigger culprit might be sitting in your pantry right now, in the sugar bowl and the bread box. Here's what's actually driving gallstone risk, and the daily habits that can turn it around.

The Choice Health Guide to Gallbladder Health

A Natural Approach to Supporting Healthy Liver & Gallbladder Function

Disclaimer: This guide is intended to support healthy liver and gallbladder function and is not a substitute for medical care. Seek immediate medical attention if you experience severe abdominal pain lasting more than 4–6 hours, fever, chills, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes), persistent vomiting, dark urine, or pale-colored stools.

What Causes Gallstones?

Most gallstones are cholesterol gallstones that develop gradually over many years.

At Choice Health, we believe one of the biggest contributors is the overconsumption of refined carbohydrates, sugars, and starches. When we consistently eat more of these foods than our bodies need, the liver converts the excess into stored fat and cholesterol. Over time, this can contribute to cholesterol-rich bile, increasing the likelihood that cholesterol crystals form and eventually become gallstones.

Supporting your liver through proper nutrition, healthy bile flow, hydration, and balanced eating habits helps create an environment that promotes long-term gallbladder health.

Drink plenty of water

Reduce sugars and refined carbohydrates

Eat vegetables with every meal

Choose healthy fats in moderation

Eat smaller, balanced meals

Stay physically active

Avoid crash dieting

Maintain a healthy body weight

Choice Health Tip

Healthy fats are not the enemy. Moderate amounts of healthy fats help stimulate normal gallbladder emptying. Large, greasy meals and diets high in refined sugars, starches, and processed foods are much more likely to contribute to cholesterol-rich bile and gallstone formation than balanced meals containing healthy fats.
